Brave and patriotic members of our family and friends serve in our military. But the majority of those serving in Iraq are there because they were ordered to, not because they truly believe that they are fighting to defend us back home.

When the cause for war is compelling, as was the case in the two World Wars, American don't need to be told to sign up. When the cause isn't compelling, they don't, and the military ends up "stretched" and resorting to lying about honorable people (Pat Tillman, Jessica Lynch) to try to create enthusiasm. Lies often beget more lies.
