Christians In America

Every Christian leader who used the pulpit, television or radio to advocate or insinuate voting to re-elect President Bush in 2004 should retake to those media and apologize to their audiences and to the Lord for their misguided advocacy, and for soiling with politics their commission to preach the Gospel.

If you feel more disillusioned with politics now than you did in 2004, you have ample reasons for feeling so. But don't turn your back and disengage. Remain engaged. Turn off the television and read the arguments for and against a broadened number of issues. Think for yourself and run through the Bible everything you read or hear, especially from Christian leaders.

America and the world is heading into some uncharted, ominous waters. Climate change, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran's nuclear ambitions and the expansion of Islam are just some of the dangers that have surfaced. Only God knows what else lies beneath it.

So please pray. And if the waves mount and the winds howl, do not take your eyes off Jesus to fear them, for that's when Peter began to sink into the Sea of Galilee. Keep your lives and eyes locked onto Christ, for nothing can overcome or separate you from His power and love.
