War In Afghanistan

We won the war in Afghanistan, had the chance and the resources to finish off bin Laden, Al Qaida and the Taliban, and rebuild the country into a stable democracy.

Had President Bush done that, the consequences of attacking America would have been made apparent to our enemies, America would have been feted around the world, and the God to whom President Bush prays for wisdom would have received added glory and honor.

Instead, President Bush took his eyes off Afghanistan and diverted resources to Iraq. Instead of being killed or caught and brought to justice, bin Laden, the perpetrator of 9/11, is resting in the hills of Pakistan and has become a folk hero to Muslim fundamentalists.

President Bush had but squandered the chance to contain and wipe out Al Qaida, which escaped and has dispersed into unknown number of cells around the world. Taliban has regrouped and restarted the war in Afghanistan, which has become a narco-state producing 90% of the world's heroine.
